Iconic Ascent

Challenge yourself to this full day iconic walk. Dip your toe in the Derwent River and finish at the pinnacle of kunanyi / Mt Wellington 1271 meters above sea level. The trails will follow in Charles Darwin’s footsteps, taking in the full range of natural and cultural wonders that hide among the mountain slopes. Not one for the faint of heart – epic, challenging, but oh what a great achievement.

Alpine Loop

Alpine Loop

A spectacular loop walk starting at the Springs, half way up the mountain. Walk through eucalyptus forest, past boulder fields and find yourself at an abandoned ice house ruin. Continue uphill and cross an alpine boulder field before arriving at the pinnacle. Enjoy a well deserved break before descending down the spectacular Zig Zag track alongside the amazing dolerite cliffs of the Organ Pipes. This walk has it all – forest, history, views and awesome geology!

Spring to the Summit

A classic walk adored by locals and visitors alike starting at The Springs located half way up the mountain. Walk through tall native eucalypt forest before climbing up through the tree line and on to the spectacular Zig Zag Track beside the enormous dolerite cliffs of the Organ Pipes. The walk finishes on the alpine plateau at the pinnacle shelter. Views for days.
