alpine loop 800 - Our Walks

Alpine Loop

A spectacular loop walk starting at the Springs, half way up the mountain. Walk through eucalyptus forest, past boulder fields and find yourself at an abandoned ice house ruin. Continue uphill and cross an alpine boulder field before arriving at the pinnacle. Enjoy a well deserved break before descending down the spectacular Zig Zag track alongside the amazing dolerite cliffs of the Organ Pipes. This walk has it all – forest, history, views and awesome geology!

Sea to Summit

Challenge yourself to this full day iconic walk. Dip your toe in the Derwent River and finish at the pinnacle of kunanyi / Mt Wellington 1271 meters above sea level. The trails will follow in Charles Darwin’s footsteps, taking in the full range of natural and cultural wonders that hide among the mountain slopes. Not one for the faint of heart – epic, challenging, but oh what a great achievement.

In Darwin's Footsteps

We will leave the Tasmanian Visitor Information Centre by bus to Myrtle Gully for a short stroll; right amongst the towering tree ferns beside the trail witnessed by Charles Darwin during his first failed attempt to ascend kunanyi.

We're closed for the moment.

Wellington Park, home of kunanyi, has closed for walkers because of COVID-19. We'll be back as soon as it's safe for us to operate. In the meantime have a read of our blog or look at the walks we'll be offering as soon as we are operational again.
